At the strong recommendation of friends we started watching AMC’s Breaking Bad. Very quickly Jeremy and I understood why so many people were not just watching, but raving about this show. There are a ton of reasons to like this show, from the award winning acting and non-award winning (but even better) acting to the beautiful cinematography highlighting the phenomenal Albuquerque sky.
One little thing that I love about the show is that in every episode Jesse Pinkman, portrayed by Aaron Paul, gets the perfect opportunity to add “bitch” to any sentence. It adds an extra bit of gangsta to Jesse, but in a way that lets you know he’s maybe not really all that hard core deep down inside. It is almost a game waiting for him to say it and I love that other people are as obsessed with this character touch as I am.
If you haven’t gotten into the show it is worth checking out - but only if you’re up for gore, drug use and questionable moral decisions. There are a LOT of the latter in this show, to put it mildly. It is brilliant the way the writers of Breaking Bad have taken two normalish guys and pushed the limits of what’s morally acceptable in a variety of circumstances. When you find yourself rooting for the bad guy that’s less evil than the really bad guy you know you’ve been led into an interesting space by some truly gifted screenwriters.
Season five, the final season which will be presented in two series of eight episodes, starts tomorrow night and I can’t wait!!!
