I absolutely adore this silly, sloppy looking cake. It is fun and colorful - perfect for a first birthday (for which is was created on the Innove Blog) or for a 33rd birthday - mine! Happy Birthday to me!!!

I’ve always been a fan of the classic ice cream cake. I may even ask for one this year. But I would never have been bold enough to top it with s’mores to create the ultimate dessert. Thankfully Jessica at How Sweet It Is was that innovative with her dessert thinking and brought this amazing treat into the world. Oh sure, it’s a complete mess, but I bet it tastes amazing.

Happy 4th of July!!!
I have been saving this fun cake for months, waiting until THE fourth of July to share it with you all on this, the most patriotic of days in the calendar of the United States. Kudos to the master baker at Glorious Treats for creating this red, white and blue masterpiece to honor our country.

Follow the collection of rainbow treats below. You never know which one might lead you to your pot o’ gold - or gold foil covered chocolate coins. Happy St. Paddy’s Day!

Do you remember making rock candy as a science class ‘experiment’ in elementary school? I do! It was a tough week of education, waiting patiently for our rocks of sugar to grow on the string connected to the No. 2 pencil, but boy, was that final treat worth it.
Now, take that concept and put an adult spin on it. That’s what Kara’s Party Ideas did with this classy dessert spread and its fun nostalgic spin. Add decor touches like a candy necklace garland and - voila! - my dream birthday party has been planned.

Holy Birthday Cake! Brilliant!
My friend Ken posted a photo similar to this one on Facebook so I sought out the original, which is impossible as that would require me to go to the ends of the Internet to find the original source of this one cavity-causing treat.
What I did find is Paige’s Pantry which is where I grabbed this photo from, which is the best possible representation of this Kit-Kat + M&M = Birthday Happiness cake I can find.

Doesn’t this cake by C Star Cakes make you want to have a pirate-themed birthday party? I know I’m considering how I’d look in an eye-patch when I turn 32 now that I’ve seen this gorgeous, skillful creation. Too bad the baker is based in Dallas.

It seems only fitting that this week’s Sunday Cake Day should be dedicated to our wedding cake. It looked lovely, tasted great and perfectly fit our cute cake topper. For anyone who wasn’t there, Jeremy is an amazing skier and I am not, but I’ve been learning and slowly improving since we met. The joke here is that he’s carrying me, the bride, on skis, which is pretty close to what has actually happened on some of our adventures.
This cake was skillfully made by Cassie Hunt of Cassie’s Custom Cakes in Atascadero, not far from where we got married in Paso Robles, California. We love carrot cake and asked Cassie to create a two-tiered with varying shades of purple fondant circles. Inside we had two variations of carrot cake - nuts in the bottom layer but not in the top. (These are the kinds of compromises that make a great husband and wife team, like us, The Dillers.) To ensure the cake was moist she added as many layers of cream cheese frosting as physically possible and boy was that a good call. Yum-a-dum! Thankfully we got a BIG hunk of it in our take-home bag from the caterer and enjoyed it so much the day after the wedding.

Our beautiful cake stand and cake cutter were gifts from my parents. They are both part of artist Michael Aram’s Black Orchid collection which I am obsessed with. We’re excited to use these for decades of birthdays and special celebrations!

Sunday Cake Day - One Day Late - Oops!
I came across this amazing four-tiered pillow cake created by Colette Peters of Colette’s Cakes on Austin360.com. It is too pretty to eat, but I can’t help but wonder what flavor each pillow is made of.
